Principal- Kevin Smith

Shannon Castillo- Assistant Principal

Mr. Smith began his career with Pitt County Schools in the fall of 2000 when he joined the faculty at D. H. Conley High School as a Social Studies teacher.  In the fall of 2005, he was appointed assistant principal at Elmhurst Elementary School where he served until the 2008-09 school year when he assumed that same role at Belvoir Elementary. 

Mr. Smith earned his Bachelor of Science in History in 2000 and his Masters in School Administration in 2005, both from East Carolina University (ECU).  He recently graduated with his Education Specialist degree in Educational Administration and Supervision, also at ECU. 

Mr. Smith and his wife Shannon, have two sons.  His wife is also an educator, teaching 4^th grade at Ayden Elementary School.  He serves on the Planning Board for the Town of Ayden.

  Mrs. Castillo Bio

Mrs. Castillo graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Science from East Carolina University. She then began her teaching career in her hometown of West Palm Beach, FL. Mrs. Castillo continued her career in Pitt County as a Reading Recovery teacher and Instructional Coach. Mrs. Castillo has also earned her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction in Reading.

Since being awarded the N.C. Principal Fellows scholarship, she is completing her administrative internship as the Assistant Principal at Stokes School, while completing her Masters of School Administration from ECU. Mrs. Castillo and her husband, Juan, have two daughters, Annalisse and Genevieve. Her husband is also an Assistant Principal at J.H. Rose High School. They are members of St. Peters Catholic Church and enjoy traveling.
